2023 Alberta Challenge: Day One Recap

RED DEER – Thursday kicked off the 2023 Alberta Challenge with five high-intensity matchups!

The first games of the weekend have finished, with South White and North Yellow tied for top spot in the standings.

Game one saw a battle between North Yellow and South Black, ending with a 4-1 Yellow victory. South Black held the game scoreless for the first period before the opposition took off and scored two per period for the remaining 40.

North Grey and South White laced up for game two, with White taking the win in a 3-2 nail biter.

The 1:30 p.m. contest went 3-0 for South Green over North Blue before South Black and North Grey hit the ice for their second games of the day.

Both squads went into game four with a 0-1 record, with the final result 4-2 in favour of South Black.

Game five ended in a draw after an intense 60 minutes of play between North Yellow and South White, each team notching three goals.

Day two starts with at 10 a.m. with a battle between South Green and North Grey at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre in Red Deer.
